Nostalgia, With a Marketing Plan.

Inside our Arapahoe County Fair branding shoot.

Four retro-styled models walking through the midway at the Arapahoe County Fair

For more than three years, Emberlight Media has photographed and filmed events at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds and Event Center. This assignment was different.

Instead of documenting a single day for immediate delivery, the venue asked us to help build a visual campaign—an original library of photography and video created to promote the fair over the next nine months.

The goal was not simply to show what happened. It was to capture how the fair feels: carnival lights against a stormy Colorado sky, corn dogs and cotton candy, the anticipation before a ride begins, mutton busting, midway games, fire performers and the colorful, slightly imperfect moments that make a county fair feel timeless.

Nostalgia was the brief.
Building the campaign

Four models. One shared feeling.

The project began with an inspiration board prepared by the client and its marketing team, Bonfire Event Co. From that creative direction, we planned a production that would feel nostalgic without feeling artificial.

Emberlight coordinated casting, selected models and managed wardrobe around a warm, retro-inspired palette. The styling gave the campaign a recognizable visual identity while still allowing the real fair—the crowds, attractions, food and energy—to remain the star.

Because the images needed to work across an extended campaign, we approached the shoot as a library rather than a single gallery: broad establishing photographs, energetic group scenes, intimate reactions and small details built for social, digital ads, web, email and future promotions.

Creating through weather

The midway, in full color.

Live events do not pause for a production crew, and Colorado weather rarely follows the shot list. Storm clouds moved across the fairgrounds, changing the light and forcing us to adjust quickly.

Instead of fighting the conditions, we used them. The darker skies made the carnival colors feel brighter, gave the Ferris wheel more drama and helped the final photographs feel cinematic rather than staged.

The plan created consistency. Awareness created the memorable frame.

Small details, real feeling

The little things you remember.

Sweet moments. Lasting memories.

One side of the collection is intentionally styled and fashion-forward: cast models, coordinated wardrobe, direct flash, saturated color and movement. The other is documentary: children laughing before a ride, a young mutton-busting competitor waiting in protective gear, midway food and illuminated attractions.

Together, the two approaches show both the personality of the brand and the experience of attending the event.

One production. Nine months of useful marketing.

A fair feeling that lasts.

Stop telling people. Start showing them.

The real value of a branding shoot is not measured by how many photographs are delivered. It is measured by how many useful stories the organization can tell with them afterward.

This collection gives the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds and Event Center a deep reserve of campaign-ready material for the next nine months. Instead of repeating the same few images, the marketing team can build anticipation with fresh scenes, different subjects and new details throughout the promotional cycle.

Event coverage records what happened. A strategic content library gives the next event momentum before the gates ever open.
